Power and heat from mine gas

Evonik utilises mine gas at more than 100 plants in the Saar and Ruhr regions. These plants generate around 1,230 gigawatt hours of electricity and 366 gigawatt hours of heat annually. The Fenne facility has one of the biggest mine gas engine plants in the world. The plant utilises a total of around 345 million standard cubic metres of mine gas annually and thus prevents approx. 4.6 million tonnes CO2 per year. Evonik New Energies markets its mine gas expertise in Russia, China, Poland and the Ukraine.
